In a nice, simple perfect world...

...I would be in love with this person.

This is the text I got last night from Jon (long standing friend and recent ex boyfriend)

"Super tired here, think I might be off to bed before I waffle my house mates to death! Thank you again for making such an effort on the party and my lovely presents. It was a refreshing change from the pub, a hilarious and memorable birthday and an epic night. Superb presents too, really thoughtful. Oh god, I'm text waffling at you now too! I hope your day was fortuitous (whatever the fuck that means!), your blogging was inspired and your hangover has faded into obscurity."

Agghh! He is the sweetest, most thoughtful man I know. Why is it that we are just meant to be friends?

Why is it you think you want certain things from that special person in your life and then when you get it you realise that that is not it at all.

There is a very lucky girl out there somewhere who will get him.

It always seems like you can't have what you want, and you get what you don't need. I have a friend I feel that way about too.

I know exactly exactly what you mean. Just willing yourself to feel things you know you don't.Just count yourself lukcy to have such an amazing person as a friend...

Love is blind.

But sometimes it seems like love is also drunk, hungover, and quite clumsy at his job.

Kate - c'est la vie eh? It's just sad really.

Doug - wise words as usual.

Leonie - I do count myself very lucky every day. That is why it is so hard.

AC - That really made me giggle. Thanks, you hit the nail on the head.

It's great that you have such a neat friend, even if it does suck that it doesn't seem meant to be more. It sounds like you have very good perspective on the issue, though-- way to be mature. :)
