I love a Happy Ending.

So this weekend was a bit of a let down for me, what with being ill and missing two nights out (which was made even more annoying by the fact that I haven't been out for weeks and that I was really looking forward to it all).

I thought the worst bit about not going out on Saturday was being alone and bored, but it turns out that it is actually Sunday morning when you are feeling a little bit better and completely stir crazy from being in all weekend, and your mates are all in bed with hangovers!

So I was at a bit of a loss yesterday morning. I got up and cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, had a shower, hoovered my bedroom and it was 10.30 and I was bored out of my mind. One look at G#1 when she emerged from her room told me that company was not going to be on the cards until much later. So I decided to go to the cinema as I really wanted to see Elizabethtown.

So I went to the 11.50am showing, which was a bargain at only £3.30 (I think it is usually double that these days). It was so funny. There was only me and 7 other people in the whole place (can you believe it - we would have all fit on one row but someone still sat in front of me with a big head so I had to move!)

The film was great. I am rubbish at reviewing films but if you are interested check out Phil's take on it here. I must say I agree with almost all that he says so it saves me the bother! I left the cinema with a great feeling, happy and upbeat and not so 'woe is me' like I have been for the past couple of weeks.

So that was it, I got home at 2.30pm and both Girlie's bedroom doors were closed so I guessed they were still in bed, recovering from the night before, so I decided to have me a good old fashioned Chick Flick Marathon!

So I watched It's A Wonderful Life (I had never seen it before the whole way through). It is such a lovely film. I really enjoyed it a lot.

Then I went for How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. It's a tried and trusted favourite of mine and didn't disappoint!

And to round off the day of love and happy endings I watched 10 Things I Hate About You. I think I have watched this film more times than any other and I still love it.

So that was my day. Films and snacks. Happy Endings all round.

It made me think before I went to sleep that whenever I am down, just split up with someone, need something to make me smile, a chick flick never fails to disappoint. It's funny, even when my heart is broken they don't make me sad, but just rekindle my hope that romance is out there, there is a man somewhere who is perfect for me and I will find him.

Now all I hope is that I don't end up old and alone and sat watching the same films. I don't think they will have the same effect then!

So let me know, what is your favourite film with a Happy Ending?

I watched Sleepless in Seattle yesterday. It's such a cliché but so lovely.
I think your day yesterday sounds absolutely perfect.
The combination of films and snacks... yes, perfect.

Re: 'How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days' - do you mean the film is a tried and trusted favourite, or actually losing a guy in 10 days is a tried and trusted favourite of yours... (sorry!)

Happy endings... well, I do like my Cameron Crowe stuff, so I'd have to say Jerry Maguire, and Say Anything is lovely too... but my favourite romantic movies are Before Sunrise / Before Sunset.

Even if they don't feature zombies.
