Help me...it's so cold my brain has frozen.

What do you get as a housewarming gift for the man that has just moved into a new flat and had to buy everything new anyway.

I would get a plant but due to my disasterous track record with keeping plants alive I'm not sure I am even allowed to purchase them anymore.

I would get alcohol of some kind but as I am going for dinner I will be taking wine anyway.

Any fun ideas? I need to get something tomorrow lunchtime.

How about a cork screw or a wine carafe?

Things I have needed at various times for my bachelor pad (not especially wow-exciting, but maybe it'll help):

-a lamp
-comedy oven gloves
-bin (yes, that is super boring)
-wine/pint glasses
-a throw for the sofa (essential if, like mine so often is, the heating is buggered)
- a personalized mug of some description

When I had my move-in party my favorite gift was one of those really cool wine openers. The ones with the handles that sit out on the counter and opens the wine with 0 effort from you...makes that 7th or 8th bottle not so tricky to open!

I was given a posh set of chopsticks, that was cool.

Still like the plant idea though... not the sort of thing us blokes tend to buy for ourselves but adds a bit of nature to a flat.

Like the fridge magnets suggestion too!

Let us know what you decide...

Cheese. Take cheese.

I suck at getting presents for people. Mainly because I've over-thought it and usually end up hating whatever I've bought with a vehement passion by the time I actually give it to them, so I get all depressed and sullen.

But I like the idea of a bottle opener that you attach to the work top.

Hope you found something good in the end...
